www.thomann.de/de/blue_yeti.htmThe blue Yeti is my second semi professional microphone. It was recommended to me by some people, yet I can not recommend it to beginners. I had some trouble to get it going like I wanted. The strong point of this mic is, if you have a little knowledge in audio editing, you can get a decent quality out of it. The downside is that it is extremly sensitive. Using your mouse on the same table is virtually impossible, since the mic will pic up the vibrations. Space needed 8/10 Sensitivity 10/10 Recording Quality 7/10 Handling 4/10 (Some experimentation is needed) Compability 8/10 (Tried on Windows 7 Home Premium and Debian 7.0 Debian sometimes rejects the mic, switching back to it's standart audio device which can be annoying during recordings) Self Noise 5/10 Total Score: 42/60 My verdict: I can't recommend it to people who are jsut starting out. I've got it up and running now, and I'm fairly satisfied, but that's only the result of long and tedious work in figuring out how to get rid of the high pitched noise the mic produces. (And the tip from someone who suggested it to me.) It doesn't need any additional hardware to work, and Audacity finds it without a problem. Adobe Audition needs a little convincing, but it also works with this mic.
